Latest AP Poll Shows Romney Takes the Lead; The Real October Suprise: Democrats Endorse Big Bird, Ignore Benghazi Cover Up

The latest Associated Press-GfK poll shows that Romney has taken the overall lead across the nation by two points, 47%-45%.  The poll further shows that Romney has destroyed Obama’s 16 point advantage when it comes to women.  There is a perfect tie now between Romney and Obama among female voters, a critical key component to victory.

It is a legitimate question however, to ask if these polls would show an even greater lead by Romney if media coverage of the current unfolding scandal of the Benghazi cover up, known by some as “Benghazi Gate”, was being covered by major networks.  Another legitimate question is certainly “why” isn’t the Benghazi cover up being fully covered by the media?

Is media bias in favor of Obama an urban legend?  The failure of major networks to cover events in the Benghazi cover up does indeed indicate media bias is alive and well.  Quite possibly, it is influencing the election in a big way to Obama’s advantage.

Is the Media Biased in Favor of Obama?

As the polls indicate a major shift from women voters in favor of Romney, the media is pulling out all the stops to falsely portray Romney as all but endorsing rape because of comments made by Murdock.  As the press ingores the Benghazi scandal, they also enable Obama to deceive and mislead Americans into a false sense of security as he lauds the death of Osama Bin Laden.  In the process, they are ignoring a very vital wake up call that demonstrates to America three key factors:

Al Qaeda is growing and thriving, they are not “a mere shadow of their former selves”.  The Obama administration has utterly failed the American people on the matter of foreign policy and national security, and they have demonstrated they cannot be trusted on so many levels. They cannot be trusted with our security, and they certainly cannot be trusted to tell the truth.  The blatant misrepresentations of fact by the current administration can not be attributed to the “fog of war”.

The evidence that has been forthcoming in the ongoing investigation clearly demonstrates that it was immdediately known that the Consulate was being bombarded by a heavily armed terror attack.  The evidence also clearly demonstrates employees of the Consulate had been repeatedly requesting help from Washington for months – as Al Qaeda hoisted their flags in Benghazi, and rose to more and more prominence just down the road from the Consulate, two previous attempts to bomb the Consulate had occured in the months proceeding the final attack.

It has also come to light that Washington’s response to emails advising the Consulate was under hostile surveillance, was simply to send a drone armed with a video camera and they watched the attack live as it unfolded, courtesy of the drone.  See previous post, Obama and the Audacity of Failure: Chris Stevens, the Benghazi Cover Up, and the Tragedy of Libya.

As Gloria Allred goes to great lengths to roll out an “October Suprise” having something to do with Romney and his testimony in the 15 year old divorce case of Tom Stemberg, former CEO of Staples, Democrats are anxiously awaiting the chance to launch an attack and the media is sharpening their pencils to accomodate them and report on this relatively insignificant event.

The real October Suprise the American people need to be informed of is the Benghazi cover up.

When the press fails to cover such events, particularly during a Presidential election, they abandon a very vital role of the First Amendment, and they do a great disservice to the American people.  In their wisdom, the founding fathers insured we would have a free press.  Their goal was certainly not to produce a propaganda machine for a President and an administration who has created a foreign policy crisis, failed to protect national security interests, and lied about it to cover it up so they can win the election.

Over at Newsbusters, they have fully covered the failure of the media to cover this scandal.  All things considered, the hard cold facts do demonstrate a pervasive bias in the media.  As nationally syndicated journalist Charles Krauthammer rightfully noted: This is Journalist Malpractice.

Following the first presidential campaign debate, after Mitt Romney used Big Bird for an analogy on wasteful government spending, for days, media pulled out all the stops to report on the possible demise of Big Bird.  They didn’t really touch on the real issue which prompted Romney’s comments on Big Bird, which was our debt to China and a catastrophic economy that cannot afford wasteful spending.

Democrats went ballistic during and after the debate, breaking records on twitter, and organizing pro Big Bird support systems.  But when it comes to the tragic events in Benghazi that demonstrate the utter failures and unscrupulous behavior of the Obama adminstration, there is no outcry from their party.  The silence is defeaning when it comes to Chris Stevens.  But the outcry to defend Obama is repeated in outrageous echoes around the country.  Democratic liberals like Stephen Colbert mocked Fox News journalist Bret Baier’s outstanding in depth report on the cover up.  The LA Times loved Colbert’s grins,  they did a write up on it, sans any info on Chris Stevens.

I don’t know why they found any of this so funny, or for that matter, why Colbert did.  I posted the video of Bret Baier’s report in a previous post, and will do so again at the end of this one.  It’s excellent, and Fox with some help from CNN, is really the only network that has fully covered Benghazi Gate.  But the point is, this leaves another sobering question that begs to be answered:

Why do Democrats care more about things like the potential demise of Big Bird than the outright murder and assassination of our Ambassador, and blatent acts of war on our sovereign soil overseas?

I suppose only they know why.  But it speaks to me of a blatant and twisted disregard for our nation, and a cult like loyalty for a President who has all but destroyed our economy and proposes weakening our military while we are being globally targeted by terrorists.

Chris Stevens and three brave Americans that needlessly went down in flames while fighting for their lives did not have to die that way.  They deserved better than an adminstration who utterly ignored their distress call for months and covered up the outrageous truth for political gain.  In the aftermath of their senseless and tragic death, they also deserve a press that accurately covers what occured.

They deserved better then, and they deserve better now.  So does the rest of America.

“The press must be free; it has always been so and much evil has been corrected by it. If government finds itself annoyed by it, let it examine its own conduct and it will find the cause.”  ~Thomas Erskine, Scottish jurist [1750-1823]
